Updated: May 5, 2023

Best productivity tips for professionals

We all have 24 hours a day, but some people just seem to get more done than others.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai is one of those people. So how does he do it?

I found these podcasts which are non-sleep deep rest, or NSDRs. So while I find it difficult to meditate, I can go to YouTube, find an NSDR video. They’re available in 10, 20 or 30 minutes, so I do that occasionally. Sundar Pichai

Pichai recently revealed his secret to remaining productive throughout the day: Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR).

What is NSDR

Dr. Huberman, a neurobiologist at the Stanford School of Medicine, has come up with the term ‘Non-Sleep Deep Rest’ to describe these techniques that are scientifically proven to recharge your brain. VastDiversity

NSDR is a technique that helps you to achieve deep rest without sleeping.

It is based on the principle that the body can enter a deep state of relaxation and rejuvenation through specific activities. NSDR can improve your overall health, well-being, and performance.

You can do NSDR with your eyes open or closed. It involves focusing and concentrating on your breath and letting go of all other thoughts.

This technique has been shown to help reduce stress, improve sleep quality, and even boost cognitive performance. So if you’re looking for a way to increase your creativity and productivity, NSDR might be worth the try.

How to perform NSDR

Non-sleep deep rest helps to reduce stress levels, improve blood circulation, and promote cell regeneration. As a result, it can be really beneficial to your productivity if you can get enough non-sleep-deep rest every day.

There are various ways to achieve NSDR, including meditation, yoga, and hypnosis.

Basically, the NSDR method consists of four steps: relax, rejuvenate, restore, and repeat. You can listen to the NSDR scripts on youtube while performing these steps.

Relax

The first step to NSDR is to relax. You can do this by focusing on your breath and letting go of all other thoughts.

You can do a few things to help yourself relax:

  • Find a comfortable position: Sit in a chair with your feet flat on the ground or lie down on your back with your knees bent.

  • Close your eyes: This will help you to focus on your breath and not be distracted by your surroundings.

  • Focus on your breath: Inhale slowly and deeply through your nose, feeling your stomach expand. Then exhale slowly.

  • Let go of all other thoughts: If you find your mind wandering, simply bring your attention back to your breath.

Rejuvenate

The next step is to rejuvenate. This involves rejuvenating your mind and body.

There are a few things you can do to rejuvenate yourself:

  • Visualize: Picture yourself in a peaceful place, such as a beach or forest.

  • Focus on positive thoughts: Think about things that make you happy and grateful.

  • Practice relaxation techniques: Try progressive muscle relaxation or guided imagery. Imagine all of the stress melting away from your body.

Once you feel relaxed and rejuvenated, it’s time to move on to the next step.

Restore

The third step is to restore. This involves restoring balance to your mind and body.

There are a few things you can do to restore balance:

  • Deep breathing: Take slow, deep breaths through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth.

  • Visualize: Imagine the energy flowing through your body, revitalizing every cell.

After you have restored your mind and body balance, it’s time to move on to the next step.

Repeat

The fourth and final step is to repeat. This involves repeating the cycle of relaxation, rejuvenation, and restoration as often as you want.

Repeating the cycle in periodic intervals is essential to fetch maximum benefit. This will help you to keep your mind and body healthy. It will also increase your creativity and help you be more productive.

Take Away: Best Productivity Tips

If you want to achieve optimal productivity, it’s important to have a healthy mind and body. NSDR can help you accomplish this by providing deep rest and relaxation.

Whenever you feel stressed, tired, or overworked, you can do the routine at your convenience. You can improve your sleep quality, reduce stress levels, and boost your cognitive performance by taking a few minutes each day to perform NSDR.
